Mobarak Diplomatic Writes

Edul-Adha  is always celebrated to remember the Prophet loyalty towards God. Because of such action, the festival is also known as a festival of sacrifice.

Muslims celebrate this festival by sacrificing a lamb or an animal to show their obedience to Allah(God).

This year's celebration of Edul-Adha saw a decline in the percentage of animals used in sacrificing because of the general hardship currently facing the Country. For example, if the previous year saw about thousand (1000) animals used in sacrifice per a District, this year's festival witness a sharp decline of animals to  about five-hundred (500) animals.

Again, if a household used four(4) bags of rice last year for Eid, this year's Eid  saw a reduction in the number of bags generally due to economic hardship that affected  pockets of individuals. This approximation was arrived at through  conjecturing and after speaking to correspondents in other Districts.

The truth is that, the excruciating hardship has eventually affected every aspect of our society including the Eidul-Adha celebrated.

I joined the Muslim Ummah and the Zongo Caucus Coordinator, Mr Dagara Abila at English and Arabic Park in Nkwanta South where the Deputy Oti Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Amara led the Eid prayer.

Short sermon and prayer were said  after which the Zongo Caucus Coordinator gave a short speech and made donation on behalf of the Member of Parliament for Nkwanta South.

The Honorable MP who was also at a funeral of his colleague MP's mother in Tema, sent a well wishes and a joyous Celebration to his Constituents.

May the blessings in this year's celebration of Eid-ul-Adha grant us our heart desires.

We pray for Allah's intercession as we are faced with an unprecedented Economic Hardship ever due to recklessness and mismanagement by leadership.

Finally and most importantly, we pray for H.E John Dramani Mahama and the entire Ghanaians. May Allah grant them long life, good health, protection and above all, the spirit of endurance as we all continue to struggle under an endless economic hardship regime.
